The National Recycling Coalition awarded South Bay Sustainable Communities the Outstanding Not-For-Profit Business and Community Leadership award in the recycling field! Our efforts in community food waste recycling were highlighted and recognized! Founder Tina Matthias went to accept this award at the Gala Reception in the Cooperstown Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

Climate Reality Leadership Certification
Tina Matthias is Certified in the completion of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training Session in June of 2022, where she became an informed leader who gained further knowledge and skills needed to combat climate change on a local level. She attended a 3 day training conference under the leadership of previous Vice President Al Gore!
South Bay Sustainable Communities Network received the Sustainability Champion Award for 2021 under the Organization Category. Two of our volunteers, Kevin Marshall and Serena Ingram also received awards in the Youth Category.
These awards are designed to recognize those helping to achieve clean air, water, and land within the city of Chula Vista. They're given annually to help celebrate local environmental champions and inspire others to keep Chula Vista clean for future generations.
