Business of the Month

We were recently awarded business of the month, found in the newspaper Our Hometown! This would not have been made possible without the help of our volunteers who strive for community engagement and sustainable practices. Sustainability Champion Award

South Bay Sustainable Communities Network received the Sustainability Champion Award for 2021 under the Organization Category. Two of our volunteers, Kevin Marshall and Serena Ingram also received awards in the Youth Category.

These awards are designed to recognize those helping to achieve clean air, water, and land within the city of Chula Vista. They're given annually to help celebrate local environmental champions and inspire others to keep Chula Vista clean for future generations.

Tina Matthias' Story Published in the Local Newspaper!

We would like to give a shout out on an amazing article written about Tina Matthias' sustainable Journey! We are so happy to not only see her story told but for it to be published in a local newspaper for the south bay community. Please take the time to read and learn about our founder's story that inspired her to start this non profit, create sustainable neighborhoods and the youth led program implemented in both middle and high schools within the Sweetwater Union School District.

Climate Reality Leadership Certification

Tina Matthias is Certified in the completion of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps Training Session in June of 2022, where she became an informed leader who gained further knowledge and skills needed to combat climate change on a local level. She attended a 3 day training conference under the leadership of previous Vice President Al Gore!
