Darnisha Hunter: Project Manager of Sustainability

Darnisha worked for the San Diego Police Department and was the first to hold the role of Community Engagement Specialist Program Coordinator. She worked hard to rebuild community policing relations between law enforcement and the citizens of San Diego. Darnisha also served as Community Representative and Military/Veteran Advocate to former San Diego Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer for 8 years. She was the first African American Regional Director for The Eastridge Group and managed their T3 Staffing division which she received the Top Producer Award. Her telecommunication career started in 1992 with Prime Cable in Las Vegas then quickly moved up the ranks to the supervisor desk and later fiber optic line locator. In 1998 she moved to work with Aerotek/Teksystems as their Senior Recruiter and Recruitment Trainer. She broke into the 440th Wire and Cable Division of the Army in 2001, which was the first time in history of the military to be done. She left in 2003 and operated her own retail store, “My Dollar Store”, which became the first African American owned Dollar Store in Henderson, Nevada. Darnisha’s Career includes owning her own lending practice, residential development and acting career with the likes of Jerry Lewis, Carrot Tops Susan Lucci, Ashton Kutcher and more. Darnisha enjoys bringing communities together and understands the challenges we are all faced with in regards to sustainability and climate change.

Jonathan Lavan: wildlife expert/ nature photographer

Jonathan Lavan - The owner of Underpressure Diving & Nature Photography is a citizen scientist and wildlife expert and has been SCUBA Diving for thirty years and taking photographs both above and below the waterline for fifteen. As an underwater and topside photographer, he has been a teacher, speaker, author, and research associate for many different well-known and little-known environmental organizations. He leads diving/photography and naturalist trips all over the world. His award-winning work has been shown all over the U. S. and more recently in Europe. He shares his images freely and they can be seen all over the place. He is a staunch environmentalist and educator of young people. Jonathan is committed to making a difference on this planet through his images and his message of goodwill to all creatures.

Roxanna bragnca: Staff Lead

Hello! My name is Roxanna Bragança, I graduated from Otay Ranch High School and was a lead of Youth for Sustainable Future. I am so excited to be a part of such a groundbreaking program that is truly changing the norm of future generations. I am so excited to be working with Southbay Sustainable Communities to accommodate new legislation and educate both students and their families about sustainable living! I am excited to continue my involvement after high school with both the schools and SBSC.
